At a thrift store, I found this photo with a message written on the back: "So sorry it's a wee bit blurred."
I was taken with the portrait and
especially the apologetic sentiment, and I started looking through the
tray of old photos for other occasions blurrily recorded. They were
harder to find than you might think; most people throw out blurry photos
because they are "bad." But a lack of focus can be lovely. And in this
case, with photos that have parted ways with their original owners for a
variety of reasons, some of them sad, the softness of the images evokes
a lost moment, one that was fading into the past even as it was
happening…

It is so strange to think of your beloved photos ending up in a bin someplace but it is nice to think of them being re-appreciated here in your blog!
